Girl Power Activities and Plans |
Activities:
- Tution Assistance: Girl Power assists girls who are willing to advance with their studies at all levels; primary, secondary and at University.
- Housing Assistance: Homeless children,young girls and women seeking shelter from storms of life nad marriages are given tempoaray or permanetnt residence depending on their case. We offer residency, training programs, child care, and educational programs. Our goal is to help families become self-sufficient and stable.
- Heart-to-Heart sessions: Girl Power holds a weekly Heart-to-Heart session with the sole aim of having an in-depth forum to discuss and address issues that affect women in their day-to-day lives from a godly perspective. These messages have equipped women not just spiritually but women have gotten a chance to obtain free legal counsel in areas of marriages and wills and other professional help.
- Counseling sessions: Pastor Jessica holds weekly counseling sessions to address needs at a personal level. These meetings have registered outstanding testimonies of God turning around hopeless situations.
- Conferences and Meetings: Girl Power Ministries organises annual conferences in Uganda. The most recent event dubbed "Through it All", which preceded "Heritage", "Power of Love". Its international meetings have also featured in U.S.A, United Kingdom, Rwanda and South Africa among others. During each local conference, Girl Power rewards women of fortitude who have distinctively contributed to their societies and stood out as examples for others to follow. These meeting are fully inter-denominational and they provide a favorable ambience for women to network and be empowered spiritually.
Plans:
- Crisis Home: Girl Power plans to set up a crisis Shelter for girls to address the escalating problem of teenage delinquency and impact of HIV on homes that has resulted in many young girls leaving home before adfulthood. The Home is expected to address the mental, social, psychological, financial, educational and spiritual needs of both teenage girls and women. It is anvisaged that in a home we will be able to restore hope and dignity to victims.
- Career Development Training Centre: Girl Power plans to establish a career training centre for women, empowering them to become self-sufficient and stable.
